The time came to end the night with Christmas songs. Next thing I knew we were all holding hands in a circle. A Christmas song was started and the circle began to move (imagine ring -a- round- the- rosie to Jingle bells). This was a tradition. As we had children they were introduced to this tradition. As they got older, our children hated this... they would close all the blinds so no one could see us. When they got married they would not mention this tradition.... the first time we did it with SIL's they would look around at us like we were nuts. This year we really surprised our daughters 2 exchange students when we did it. It is a tradition we rarely share..... until now!!! She did this mostly when I was little, but it continued occasionally throughout high school. Whenever I was really hard to wake up, that would always make me smile and come to life.Aliciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06560923893875596928noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8953434957462559041.post-62401625721443783512010-06-11T11:23:58.036-07:002010-06-11T11:23:58.036-07:00I have no kids, but when I myself was a tyke: Blow...I have no kids, but when I myself was a tyke: Blowing out the lights. My dad did it with us because his dad used to do it with him. Of course, his dad also grew up at least sometimes without electricity.

After we were in bed, my dad would say, "Are you ready to blow out the light?" And then he'd count to three, and then we'd blow, hard, in the direction of the light, and he'd turn it off. I LOVED it.bzzzzgrrrlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03506314837586082113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8953434957462559041.post-34486213090377002822010-06-11T07:04:28.508-07:002010-06-11T07:04:28.508-07:00Hahaha, my husband used to pop up our kids up in f...Hahaha, my husband used to pop up our kids up in front of the mirror after wrapping them up in a towel and sing part of that West Side Story song... One of us would sing "MaNaMaNah" and the other would sing "DooDooDooDoo" back and forth, just to make her laugh. We still break out in the song now but she looks at us like we're weirdos.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
