post edit procrastination

Nothing to do with this post, these are some cupcakes I made last weekend just for kicks.

Have you noticed that some days everyone-who-ever-signed-up-for-a-url is updating their blog while on other days, no one visits the lonely online world?

Today seems to have drifted toward the second catagory.

(And up-to-now included me.)

But I am putting a few things off and the laptop has a wonderful way of keeping me from doing those things.

So.

(Things I am putting off include:

... getting dressed to go downstairs to exercise

... cleaning up a mess that has mysteriously appeared in the kitchen (okay, maybe not so mysteriously---- it just wasn't cleaned up last night before bed)

... doing cat hairball damage control - my poor studio received quite a reckoning sometime last night and seeing it first thing this morning when I went downstairs to grab some pretzels for Bean (don't ask) was QUITE a rude awakening and I've been cowering back in bed ever since

Chip can tell when I'm spending more time in my studio because the entries here are a little less, um, inspired.

I think it has to do with creative energy.

When I'm pouring myself into studio work

The words just don't come as freely or as frequently.

Which also lands me in Camp Number Two (nothing to do with poop).

Anyway.

I'm curious about what causes you to be silent. What pushes you away from hitting that Publish button?

Lack of inspiration. Nothing funny has stuck in my mind. I haven't taken any pictures. I'm tired of writing about the same old stuff. I get stuck in those bogs.

Then a bra tossed in a Kohl's parking lot will inspire me and I'm off and running again...

Good question. I've sort of made it a policy to write at least 6 times a week (unless I'm on vacation) on each of my weekly topics so this forces me to hit publish when I might not otherwise do it. When I don't post it usually has something to do with feeling like no one is reading anyway or if I think the last post was good I try to keep it up longer to get more feedback -- which never works so I don't know why I do it!

I went to bloggy boot camp, and then decided to switch from blogger to wordpress and in the process broke my blog. It's hard to publish when I can't find the damn thing.

Sometimes I'm feeling smacked-down, and I lose my blogging morale for awhile.

Other times I'm reading a really good book.

Sometimes I'm just so busy between kids, taking care of the house, and going to school full-time, and getting ready for another baby... sometimes I just don't have the time, and I need to reset my priorities.

Also if I can't think of anything interesting to post, I won't post! :)

Also, I can only go so many posts without posting pictures. I like pictures with text. So if I don't have any pictures to put with it, I might not post either!

But I updated today... on two of my blogs (my personal blog and the Movin Mommas blog I contribute to). I'll also have another update coming sometime this week about the Great Cheese Rescue, Plan A. I just need to snap the picture for it. I'm debating on whether or not to post a tutorial for my delicious Hawaiian Sweet Rolls too.

Sometimes I just don't feel like I have anything important or interesting to say! (I do have another secrect blog that I write my ramblings on though. It has all the ups and downs. Not just the happy stories.)

That white cupcake has my name on it! (I see it in teeny tiny letters, honest.)

I don't write when I'm too busy with other things: work is 99% the culprit. The other 1% of the time, I just don't have anything to say.

Usually my blog visiting (spying) happens at work and I only have an hour to do it in. I want to comment, but like many have already said, I don't have anything interesting or fun to say. Having a blog myself, it does feel kinda lonely when no one says anything about a great story you've shared. I'm going to be better and not be such a peeping Tom.

PS - I totally did not wish Bean a Happy Birthday...Can you tell her for me? The cake looked delicious, btw.

Sometimes I feel like I have too much to say and then I get overwhelmed. I wonder if anyone cares about the stuff I write, if I'm interesting enough, or sometimes I've wasted too much time on FB and wish I would've been more productive.

Nate turned 2 on Friday and I've yet to publish a new post. Bad mommy.

So many reasons: being inspired when I can't type and when I can type not being able to get back into the zone; not feeling like I have the right words to express what I'm thinking; only having itty bitty thoughts and not fully formed ideas...the list goes on.

BTW, those cupcakes look delicious!

First of all, WHY DO YOU TAUNT ME WITH THE CUPCAKES?

Two, does "exercise" = Jillian Michaels? I am still on 1, and it is still kicking my butt. But I DO feel stronger.

Three. Love "reckoning."

And fourthly, I would love to devote more time to inspiration and writing and being creative, but for me, it's an issue of dividing attention.

I want to spend more time being PRESENT with my family, which means I have to curb my compulsive blog and email checking habits, which means I really shouldn't bring my laptop home from work AT ALL because I will just end up sitting with it on my lap all night, thus impeding the PRESENCE. It's tough. And now I'm singing that song from "Hustle and Flow"... "It's hard out here for a pimp..."

Sorry. You're getting the dregs of me this evening.

Annnnnnnnnnd g'nite.
